BSNL has decided to take on Reliance Jio, Airtel with 'Data Tsunami' offer. Here's what BSNL customers must know

Taking on Reliance Jio, Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has launched 'Data Tsunami' offer, under which users will get 1.5GB data per day for a period of 26 days with a charge of Rs 98. The state operator has also upped the FUP limit for its Rs 4,999 FTTH plan to stay put in the fibre connectivity competition. "BSNL provides efficient services at cheaper rates as per requirement of customers. This is a pure data STV which provides at a very economic rate at Rs 2.51 per GB," said RK Mittal, Director (CM), BSNL Board, in a press statement.

BSNL 1.5GB data per day pack

The new offer comes through the new data STV-98 pack that is available with immediate effect across all BSNL circles in India. Users will get 1.5GB data per day for a period of 26 days with a charge of Rs 98. With the fresh benefits that are available through the Rs 98 pack, BSNL is offering data at Rs 2.51 per GB. This is lower than what Jio is offering with its Rs 149 pack that has a validity of 28 days and offers 1.5GB data per day - which eventually costs Rs 3.5 per GB. Airtel also has a similar Rs 149 pack that brings the data benefits close to Rs 5.3 per GB. However, both Jio and Airtel are providing unlimited voice calls and 100 SMS messages per day that you won't get on the Rs. 98 BSNL pack. This Rs 98 pack offers only data, unlike the Rs 118 pack.

Few days back, the telcos launched its Rs 118 pack that offered unlimited voice calling and 1GB of data with a validity of 28 days.

It is to be noted BSNL offers 3G speeds in all circles except Kerala while Jio and Airtel offer 4G speed across all the circles.

Jio prepaid recharge plan priced at Rs 198

Jio's Rs 198 prepaid recharge plan offers 42 GB of 4G data for a period of 28 days, with a daily cap of 1.5GB data. Unlimited local, STD, roaming voice call benefits are also available with this prepaid recharge plan. Subscribers get access to host of Jio apps and benefits of free 100 SMSes per day. The validity of this prepaid plan is 28 days.

Jio prepaid recharge plan priced at Rs 398

Jio's Rs 398 prepaid recharge plan offers 105 GB of 4G data for a period of 70 days, with a daily cap of 1.5 GB data. Unlimited local, STD, roaming voice call benefits are also available with this prepaid recharge plan. Subscribers get access to host of Jio apps and benefits of free 100 SMSes per day. The validity of this prepaid plan is 28 days.s.

Number of Vacancies: 996 Posts

Location: The vacancies are spread across the country in 28 states across different BSNL circles.

Pay scale: The pay scale for the post of Junior Accounts Officers (JAO) shall be 16400-40,500. The total emoluments will be approximately Rs 35,000/- per month excluding perks, medical benefits and other benefits.

Please note that the 996 vacancies are spread across BSNL telecom circles in 28 states. However, a candidate can apply for only one circle or state. Based on the rank of candidates in the examination and the vacancies in any circle or state, the appointments will be made accordingly.

Candidates who are selected for the position will have to execute a bond with BSNL in a specified format that they will serve in the organization for a minimum period of 5 years. Selected candidates will have to undergo required training and are required to qualify through the training too. If the candidate is unsuccessful in his first attempt he will be given one more attempt for qualifying through the training. Candidates who fail to clear the training even after their 2nd attempt will be deemed unfit for selection and will have to undertake the examination again, whenever it will be held.

Telecom major BSNL is all set to take on rivals Bharti Airtel and Reliance Jio with its Rs 149 monthly unlimited voice call plan for mobile subscribers.

BSNL will roll out an unlimited local and national voice call plan to any network with a bit of free data for Rs 149 or less next month.

BSNL is all set to give a tough competition to other telco companies by its new offerings. It has recently announced unlimited calling offer that starts at a price of Rs 99 for its pre-paid customers along with limited free data usage.

Here are the top 4 schemes that the customers must know before actually availing the offer:

1. Rs 99 offer: This scheme offers free unlimited voice calls (local) and free STD calls from BSNL to BSNL along with 300MB of data. The plan is valid for 28 days and is applicable in Kolkata, Assam, Assam, Jammu & Kashmir, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra.

Meanwhile, Reliance Jio is offering a Rs 149 plan under which it will offer free calls to all network in the country for 28 days without any roaming charges. The plan also includes 300MB of 4G data during the day and unlimited usage at night.
