Wipro Q4 consolidated net rises marginally to Rs 2,267 cr

Board approves bonus issue in the ratio of 1:1; standalone net rises 20% on sequential basis

Wipro, India's third largest software exporter said fourth quarter profits grew 0.4% to Rs 2,267 crore on revenues of Rs 13,987.5 crore, a jump of 2.6%

The Bengaluru-based IT services firm said IT services revenue grew 2.7% over the previous quarter to $1.96 billion. For the fourth quarter, Wipro had projected growth between $1.9 billion-$1.94 billion or 1-2%.

Wipro has forecast its IT services revenue in the first quarter of the fiscal 2018 to be in the range of $1.92 billion to $1.96 billion.

“We delivered revenues within the guidance range in our fourth quarter,” said Abidali Z Neemuchwala, Chief Executive Officer of Wipro. “We are confident that the recovery in Energy & Utilities and our demonstrated strength in Digital will help us improve our growth trajectory during the course of the current financial year.”

Wipro's larger rivals Infosys and TCS too faced business and currency challenges in the quarter.

The company board approved bonus issue in the ratio of 1:1.

Standalone net profit jumped 20% to Rs 2,303 crore sequentially as compared to Rs 1,918 crore in December quarter. (more)

युवराज सिंह की शादी पर सामने आया अफेयर
बता दें कि बहुत दिनों से जहीर खान और सागरिका के अफेयर की चर्चा थी. वैसे दोनों का रिश्ता सामने तब आया, जब दोनों युवराज सिंह और हेजल की शादी पर साथ पहुंचे थे.

इसके बाद तो कई मौकों पर दोनों को एक साथ भी देखा गया. हालांकि दोनों ने कभी अपने रिश्तों की ऑफिशियल अनाउंसमेंट नहीं की.

तेज गेंदबाज के तौर पर मशहूर जहीर खान फिलहाल IPL में दिल्ली डेयरडेविल्स टीम के कैप्टन हैं. कई IPL मैचों के दौरान भी सागरिका को जहीर को चीयर करते हुए देखा गया.

वही जहीर भी सागरिका को पूरा सपोर्ट करते हैं. इस साल रिलीज हुई सागरिका की फिल्म 'इरादा' के प्रीमियर पर खासतौर पर पहुंचे थे.

राजकुमारी हैं 'चक दे गर्ल' सागरिका
सागरिका 2007 में आई फिल्म 'चक दे इंडिया' में प्रीति सबरवाल के रोल से फेमस हुईं थीं. छोटे पर्दे पर सागरिका 'फि‍यर फैक्टर:खतरों के खिलाड़ी (सीजन 6)' में भी नजर आ चुकी हैं.

वहीं कम लोग जानते हैं कि सागरिका बॉलीवुड एक्‍टर विजेंद्र घाटगे की बेटी हैं. वैसे सिंपल दिखने वालीं सागरिका असल जिंदगी में एक राजकुमारी हैं. उनके पापा कागल के राजपरिवार से ताल्लुक रखते हैं तो उनकी ग्रैंडमदर, इंदौर के महाराजा तुकोजीराव होल्कर तृतीय की बेटी हैं.

Pune beats Mumbai by seven wickets; Smith, Rahane seal win

Chasing a target of 185, Pune crossed the line with just one ball to spare

Rising Pune Supergiants rode on superb batting by captain Steve Smith and Ajinkya Rahane to defeat Mumbai Indians by seven wickets in the second game of the 2017 Indian Premier League (IPL) at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune on Thursday.

Chasing a target of 185, Pune crossed the line with just one ball to spare.

The hosts had started their chase on a strong note, scoring at more than 10 runs an over in the initial stages before Mayank Agarwal was dismissed by Mitchell McClenaghan.

Smith then joined Rahane in the middle and the duo added 58 runs in the space of seven overs to lay the foundation of a successful run chase.

Rahane scored 60 runs off 34 balls with six boundaries and three hits into the stands. He was finally dismissed when Nitish Rana pulled off an excellent catch at deep square leg off the bowling of Tim Southee.

Smith, however, continued in the same vein and remained unbeaten on 84 runs off a mere 54 deliveries. His innings included seven boundaries and three sixes.

Fittingly, it was he only who brought up the winning runs with two consecutive sixes off Kieron Pollard in the final over.

For Mumbai, Southee, Hardik Pandya and McClenaghan bagged a wicket each. (more)

वीडियो : जंगली जानवरों के बीच पली-बढ़ी 'मोगली गर्ल' अब बन रही इंसान

उत्तर प्रदेश के बहराइच जिले में हजारों एकड़ में फैले घनघोर जंगल में जानवरों के बीच से पुलिस को एक ऐसी बच्ची ('मोगली गर्ल') मिली है, जो जानवरों की तरह ही हरकतें करती है और वैसी ही आवाजें भी निकालती है.

जनपद बहराइच में मोतीपुर पुलिस को रात में गश्त के दौरान जंगल में ऐसी लड़की मिली, जो जानवरों के बीच रहती थी. पुलिस के जवानों ने उसे बंदरों के बीच से निकालकर जिला अस्पताल पहुंचाया, जहां लड़की का इलाज किया जा रहा है. इलाज के बाद उसमें अब थोड़ा बदलाव देखा जा रहा है. लड़की जंगल में पुलिस को बिना कपड़ों के मिली थी.

एसआई सुरेश यादव 25 जनवरी को कतर्नियाघाट सेंक्चुरी के मोतीपुर रेंज में गश्त कर रहे थे. मोतीपुर थानाध्यक्ष राम अवतार यादव ने बताया कि जब पुलिस टीम रेंज के खपरा वन चौकी के पास पहुंची तभी जंगल में बंदरों से घिरी एक निर्वस्त्र चार वर्षीय बच्ची दिखाई दी. निर्जन वन में अकेली बच्ची को देख पुलिस कर्मी दंग रह गए.

एसआई सुरेश ने उसे साथ लाना चाहा तो बंदर विरोध पर उतर आए और चीखना शुरू कर दिया. बच्ची भी पुलिस कर्मियों को देख बंदरों की तरह ही चीखने लगी, लेकिन पुलिस कर्मियों ने कड़ी मशक्कत के बाद उसे साथ लिया और जिला अस्पताल लाकर भर्ती कराया. बच्ची के शरीर पर जंगली जानवरों के काटने के जख्म थे. बच्ची न तो इंसानी भाषा समझ पाती है और न ही बोल पाती है. फिलहाल डॉक्टर उसका इलाज कर रहे हैं.
लेकिन डॉक्टरों को देखते ही वह चिल्ला उठती है, जिसकी वजह से मेडिकल व नर्सिंग स्टाफ को इलाज में काफी दिक्कतों का सामना करना पड़ रहा है.

एसओ राम अवतार ने बताया कि इस मामले में न तो कोई केस दर्ज है और ना ही उसके परिजनों का अता-पता चल रहा है.Read more

India rise to 101 in FIFA rankings, best ever since 1996

India have jumped 31 places from its last rank of 132nd in the previous month

The Indian football team achieved its best-ever FIFA ranking in over two decades as it jumped to 101 in the latest list released on Thursday.

This is the team's best-ever ranking since May 1996 - it was ranked 101 then also.

India have jumped 31 places from its last rank of 132nd in the previous month.

Following a couple of wins in recent times, India are now ranked 11th in Asia.

The highest FIFA ranking achieved by India ever is 94, which was attained in February 1996. India were ranked 99 in November 1993 and 100 in October 1993, December 1993 and April 1996.

The last couple of years had been fruitful for India as they won 11 of their 13 matches, including an unofficial game against Bhutan, while scoring a total of 31 goals.

India recently posted a 1-0 victory over Myanmar in the AFC Asian Cup qualifiers — their first-ever in Myanmar in over 64 years.

Before that India's first win in an away encounter in over a decade came when they beat Cambodia 3-2 in an International Friendly.

The 4-1 win at home for India last year against Puerto Rico was also commendable.

"It has been a difficult road. Bringing in new blood and creating competition for places in the team has been a process, and I'm pleased we are moving in the right direction," India coach Stephen Constantine said. (more)

Jet Airways joins SpiceJet, Vistara, starts variable pay to save wage bill

Plan covers 100 execs; fixed pay at 80-85%, rest based on staff performance, firm's profitability

Jet Airways is introducing 15-20 per cent variable pay component for its top management as it looks to save on its wage bill.

The Mumbai-headquartered airline has a higher cost structure than other listed domestic airlines and is undertaking cost control exercises to remain nimble. The variable pay scheme will be applicable to around 100 senior executives of Jet Airways and is expected to result in annual savings of Rs 25-30 crore, an airline source.

While the fixed salary component will be 80-85 per cent, the remainder will be linked to employee performance and airline profitability. The senior executives will also not receive salary increment this year.

A Jet Airways spokesperson did not offer immediate comments.

Some of Jet's peers already have a variable pay scheme in place. Vistara and SpiceJet too have variable pay for its senior management. Air India a productivity linked incentive scheme which was a variable pay out in mid-1990s but the same was discontinued in 2012.

Jet Airways has a staff strength of around 15,000 and had a wage bill of Rs 2,316 crore in the first nine months of FY 17. Employee costs rose 26 per cent on a year on year basis for the period. The airline has around 2000 pilots on its rolls whose salaries account for nearly half of the wage bill. Read more

Sunrisers Hyderabad beat RCB by 35 runs in IPL opener

Defending champions Sunrisers Hyderabad made a perfect start to their Indian Premier League (IPL) campaign crushing a depleted Royal Challengers Banaglore (RCB) by 35 runs in the opening encounter on Wednesday night.

Veteran Yuvraj Singh's blazing blade (62 off 27 balls) and unheralded Afghanistan leg-spinner Rashid Khan Arman (2/36 in 4 overs)'s crucial breakthroughs enabled Sunrisers to outwit a Virat Kohli-less RCB in all departments.

A challenging target of 208 was achievable on a placid track but RCB could only manage 172 in 19.4 overs losing wickets at regular intervals. This was the first time after 23 IPL matches that RCB were all-out.

RCB's top four --- Chris Gayle (32), Mandeep Singh (24), Travis Head (30) and Kedar Jadhav (31) were all set before getting out. Kedar's dismissal was the turning point as RCB were never in the match after that.

He was looking dangerous during his 16-ball stay and was run-out when Ben Cutting's direct throw from the deep found him short by a metre.

On a belter where pacers became easy prey for the batsmen, Sunrisers skipper David Warner rotated his spinners well trying to take the pace off the deliveries.

Claiming HRA to get harder as govt cracks down on fake house rent receipts

I-T department could now ask for supporting documents to prove that you are a genuine tenant

If you have been producing fake rent receipts to lessen your tax burden there is a bad news for you now.

You may no longer be able to claim income tax deductions for house rent allowance (HRA) by fabricating fake bills. The income tax department may now ask for proof from the tax payer showing that he is a genuine tenant.

According to a report in Economic Times, Dilip Lakhani, senior tax advisor, Deloitte Haskins & Sells LLP said, "The ITAT (Income Tax Appellate Tribunal) ruling has now laid down the criteria for the assessing officer to consider the claim of a salaried employee and if necessary question its justification. This will put the onus on the salaried class to follow the rules in availing the tax rebate.”

ITAT Mumbai recently struck down the HRA exemption claim of a salaried individual for rent paid to her mother. This opens a pandora's box for all salaried people as now an IT officer can ask for proof such as leave and licence agreement, letter to the housing co-operative society informing about the tenancy, electricity bill, water bill and so on.

Till now, a salaried person receiving HRA could escape paying tax on 60% of the amount by submitting a rent receipt. Now, it may not be possible as the department could ask for supporting documents.

This Tribunal ruling comes a few months after the government's decision to cap the loss on property bought with borrowed money. According to this ruling a person producing fake rent receipt will be deemed as counterfeit and no required documents will be available with him. There may not be any genuine rent outflow from the person and in some circumstances even if the person is a genuine tenant, the amount mentioned in the receipt may be more than what's paid.

However, if you pay more than Rs 1 lakh annually towards house rent, then quoting landlord's PAN is mandatory for claiming tax benefit under House Rent Allowance.

क्रिकेट जगत में क्रांतिकारी परिवर्तन लाने वाले इंडियन प्रीमियर लीग के 10वें साल में कई बदलावों की दरकार महसूस होती है

पिछले साल इंडियन प्रीमियर लीग (आईपीएल) शुरू होने से पहले ट्वेंटी-20 क्रिकेट के इस टूर्नामेंट को बेहद सख्त इम्तिहान माना जा रहा था। ऐसा मानना गलत भी नहीं था क्योंकि मार्च के आखिरी दिनों में जब यह टूर्नामेंट शुरू हुआ था, उस समय भारत के खिलाडिय़ों को एक के बाद एक दिग्गज अंतरराष्टï्रीय टीमों के खिलाफ बीस-बीस ओवरों के मुकाबले खेलते हुए तीन महीने हो चुके थे। उन तीन महीनों में भारत ने ऑस्ट्रेलिया और श्रीलंका को टी-20 मुकाबलों में धूल चटाई और बांग्लादेश में टी-20 एशिया कप में खिताबी जीत भी दर्ज की। उसके बाद भी उन्हें आराम नहीं मिला और टी-20 विश्व कप में सभी से दो-दो हाथ करते हुए टीम सेमीफाइनल तक पहुंचने में कामयाब रही। उसके बावजूद आईपीएल बेहद मनोरंजक एवं रोमांचक रहा।

उस आईपीएल की खास बात यह थी कि उच्चतम न्यायालय की तरफ से नियुक्त न्यायमूर्ति आर एम लोढ़ा समिति की सिफारिशें आने के बाद वह पहला आईपीएल टूर्नामेंट था। खास बात यह भी थी कि उस टूर्नामेंट से ठीक पहले चेन्नई सुपरकिंग्स और राजस्थान रॉयल्स की दिग्गज टीमों को टूर्नामेंट से बाहर कर दिया गया था। उनकी जगह दो नई टीमों राइजिंग पुणे सुपरजाइंट्स और गुजरात लॉयंस को शामिल किया गया था। ऐसी सूरत में 2016 के टूर्नामेंट की कामयाबी को लेकर चिंताएं होना लाजिमी था। चिंता उस समय बढ़ भी गई, जब उसे शुरुआत में टेलीविजन पर उतने दर्शक नहीं मिले, जितने उससे पिछले सालों में मिलते आए थे।

लेकिन दो हफ्ते के भीतर ही इस टी-20 लीग का खुमार एक बार फिर पूरे मुल्क पर चढ़ गया और टीवी रेटिंग एक बार फिर चढऩे लगीं। टूर्नामेंट खत्म होने पर पता चला कि लीग के दर्शकों की संख्या साल भर पहले के आंकड़े से तकरीबन 88 फीसदी बढ़कर 36.12 करोड़ तक पहुंच गई थी। टूर्नामेंट के पहले साल यानी 2008 के संस्करण में दर्शकों की संख्या से तुलना करें तो 2016 में तकरीबन ढाई गुना दर्शक आईपीएल को हासिल हुए थे। दर्शकों के साथ ही विज्ञापन से होने वाली कमाई के मामले में भी प्रदर्शन बहुत शानदार रहा। पिछले साल आईपीएल को प्रायोजकों के विज्ञापनों ने तकरीबन 1,100 करोड़ रुपये की आय हासिल हुई थी। इन आकंड़ों ने एक बार फिर साबित कर दिया कि आईपीएल अपने रास्ते में आने वाली तमाम बाधाओं से पार पाने में कामयाब रहा है। Read More
